Cultural Tours in Ba-Phalaborwa
Hundreds of years ago Sotho tribes first settled in the area bounded by the Olifants and Letaba rivers. They soon realized they were settling in an unfavorable area and relocated back to this fertile bushveld valley.
They named the area Phalaborwa, meaning "better than the South". Today the Tsonga, who used to rule the Gaza Empire, and the Pedi (part of the Northern Sotho) are living peacefully together in the area. Come on a tour with us and visit the rural areas. You will discover the ancient roots of this land and also find out about the modern day Africa.
Accompanied by an experienced guide you may want to visit a traditional healer, meet traditional dancers, or visit a Shebeen. You may also stop at Leka Gape, a community upliftment project, or visit Afrikania Pottery, who combine ancient African Heritage elements with modern technology to produce art and craft items of distinct and rare quality.
